KING | Knowledge for INtegration Governance

The KING project is a translation into facts of the idea that knowledge should be the foundation stone of policy-making. Hence its name: Knowledge for INtegration Governance. Co-funded by the European Commission – DG Home Affairs, it intends to gather knowledge on the present position in relation to migrant integration throughout the European Union, with a view to guiding policymaking and enhancing its outcomes. In order for policies to respond to what is a multifaceted phenomenon, a multidisciplinary approach is used which should guarantee the provision of insightful and relevant recommendations.

The project is coordinated by ISMU Foundation - Initiatives and Studies on MUltiethnicity.

FINAL REPORT

The Final Report of the KING Project - Knowledge for INtegration Governance - concerns integration policies and governance in Europe, as analyzed in the course of the multidisciplinary research that saw the participation of more than 40 researchers across Europe.
On the basis of the research results, the Report provides a series of policy-recommendations and discusses strategies for the enhancement of integration measures at the national and local level, as a proposal for the implementation of the Common Basic Principles on Migrant Integration (CBPs).
The Final Report was presented at the Final International Conference held in Barcelona at the CaixaForum on 20 February 2015.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Executive Summary of the KING project (October 2014) is a proposal for the implementation of the Common Basic Principles for Immigrant Integration Policy in the EU, consisting in a series of policy recommendations supported by the solid evidence base provided by the desk research carried out in the first phase of the KING project. The Executive summary was presented during the KING project thematic workshop “Integration Governance: Evidence from Strategies and Policies” held during the Metropolis 2014 International Conference (Milan, 3-7 November 2014).

BACKGROUND NOTE
Fifth European Ministerial Conference on Integration

The results of the KING Project provided the basis for the Background Note of the 5th European Ministerial Conference on Integration, organized by the Italian Ministry of the Interior in the framework of the Italian Presidency of the European Union’s agenda. The European Ministerial Conference on Integration was held in Milan on 5 and 6 November 2014.

MID-TERM EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Mid-term Executive Summary of the KING project, resulting from the project framing phase, intends to give a first glance on the integration process and integration policies in Europe by providing evidence, particularly against some myths linked to migrants' presence in Europe.
