Guia Gilardoni - Project Coordinator
Guia Gilardoni is a Senior Researcher at ISMU Foundation and Research Fellow at the Catholic University of Milan, where she earned her Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Research Methods. Her research interests concern the integration pathway of second-generation migrants and migrant integration governance at local level, with a focus on the transformations regarding the formulation, adoption and implementation of integration policies and on mixed forms of intervention, conducted by local authorities in partnership with other levels of government and the private sector. Since 2004, she has been involved in several research projects on migration and integration processes carried out by the ISMU Foundation, such as EMILL – European Modules and Integration at Local Level, aimed at analysing integration practices and the role of context in fostering or hampering their implementation. Since 2012 she is part of the group in charge of the organization of the Metropolis2014 International Conference, hosted by Milan in November 2014. She co-authored, with Daniela Carrillo and Marina D’Odorico, EMILL - A tool reading integration practices and their respective contexts, ISMU Foundation: Milan, 2013. Daniela Carrillo holds a Diplôme Universitarie in Anthropologie Biologique from the Université de la Méditerranée, Aix-Marseille II, and a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Florence. Her PhD thesis analyzed the migratory histories and the reproductive behaviours of migrants from Ivory Coast and Ghana in Palermo, Italy. Since 2006, she has been working for the ISMU Foundation as a member of the Health and Welfare Unit. Her research interests concern the integration of migrant populations in Europe, with a focus on health and on the responses of public and private institutions to migrants’ needs. She took part in the realization of several studies and international research projects, such as EMILL – European Modules on Integration at Local Level, with Marina D’Odorico and Guia Gilardoni. She co-edited, with Nicola Pasini, Migrazioni Generi Famiglie. Marina D’Odorico holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Research Methods from the Catholic University of Milan. As a member of the Immigration and Asylum Law unit, since 2001 she has been working for ISMU Foundation, where she has been taking part in the planning and execution of national and international projects particularly on integration issues. Her research interests concern the role of contexts in supporting or hampering the implementation of integration practices, the meaning of citizenship and the role of legislation in shaping the pathway to citizenship, as well as the role of law in asylum seekers and refugees’ experiences. She co-authored, with Daniela Carrillo and Guia Gilardoni, EMILL : A tool reading integration practices and their respective contexts, ISMU Foundation:Milan, 2013 (final report of the project European Modules and Integration at Local Level – EMILL analysing integration practices and the role of context in fostering or hampering their implementation carried out by ISMU Foundation). Veronica Riniolo is currently concluding her Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Research Methods at the Catholic University of Milan, Italy, with a thesis on Migrant integration processes and indicators of citizenship practices. The case of Sweden. She was visiting Ph.D. student at Stockholm University in 2012 and 2013. In 2008 she started working at ISMU Foundation, where she has been taking part in several national and international projects regarding migrant integration and Roma inclusion. She also collaborates with the Regional Observatory for Integration and Multiethnicity (ORIM) of Lombardy Region. Her recent publications include: Riniolo V. Pierre Georges Van Wolleghem is currently a PhD candidate at the Graduate School in Social and Political Sciences of the University of Milan. Since 2012 he has been working for the ISMU Foundation on international projects concerning integration policies in Italy and Europe, such as EMILL - European Modules and Integration at Local Level, aimed at analyzing integration practices and the role of context in fostering or hampering their implementation. After having studied Sociology at the Lumières University of Lyon and Political Science at the Sorbonne University of Paris, he obtained a Master’s degree in European Law coordinated by Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Université Montpellier 1, Uniwersytet Szczecinski and Università degli Studi di Milano.Giulia Mezzetti
Giulia Mezzetti holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Philosophy from the University of Milan and an Master’s degree in International Affairs from Sciences Po - Paris, where she specialized in migration studies and wrote her master’s thesis under the supervision of Prof. Catherine Wihtol de Wenden on mosque establishment and the migrant Muslim community in Italy. Prior to joining the ISMU Foundation in 2014, she worked at UNESCO, Paris, and at Politeia, a Milan-based research centre on applied and public ethics, where she carried out a research on migrations, multinational corporations and corporate social responsibility (“Migrations, Brain Drain and Global Justice: What Role for Corporations?”, in Notizie di Politeia, vol. 29/111, 2013, pp. 199-217).

Ingrid Wilkens
Ingrid Wilkens is a doctor of Economics and holds a degree in Sociology as well. She gained research experience at the Universities of Hamburg (1989-1995), Göttingen (1999-2002) and Nuremberg (2004-2005) and at several research institutes, such as the Sociological Research Institute at the University of Goettingen (SOFI, 1997-1998), the Institute for Employment Research at Nuremberg (IAB, 2002-2004), and the Institute for Social Work and Social Education at Frankfurt am Main (ISS, 2007-2009). From 2005 to 2006 she was a visiting fellow at the Social Policy Research Centre at Sydney. Between 2009 and 2013, she was Head of the Unit of Integration Research at the Ministry of Justice, Integration and Europe of the State of Hessen, Germany. From 2014 on he holds the same position at the Hessen State Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration.

Altay Manço
Altay A. Manço is Scientific Director of the Institut de Recherches, Formations et Actions sur les Migrations since 1996. He has conducted extensive research in the domains of psychopedagogy of social integration and of psychosociology of immigration, with a focus on Turkish immigration, and has been a consultant for a number of institutions and associations in Europe, Canada and Morocco on these subjects. He holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Liège, Belgium, and collaborates with the Université de Paris V (since 1998), the University of Sherbrooke, Québec and the Haute École Sociale de la Suisse Occidentale. He directs the Compétence Interculturelles book series of the publishing house Éditions l’Harmattan, Paris.

Patricia Frias
Patricia Frias serves as International Relations Officer for the Fondazione Cariplo since 2005. Her work is currently focused on international relations and strategic partnerships, the coordination of the foundation’s Business Excellence & Continuous Improvement Program, and the professional development programmes “European Learning Lab” and TIEPOLO - International Exchange Programme (two joint initiatives of the European Foundation Centre and Fondazione Cariplo). She also took part in the launch of “Microfinanza 1” (microfinance fund) and in the fund-raising of TTVenture (fund for technology transfer). She served as a member of the Audit Committee of the European Foundation Centre (Brussels, Belgium) between 2008 and 2011. Patricia holds a Master’s degree cum laude in Economics from the University of Pavia and a Master’s degree cum laude in “Non Profit Institutions Management” from SDA Bocconi School of Management. She is also a certified EFQM European Excellence Assessor.
